It’s not a simple question to answer sorry.
I’m not an expert in the area, but I’ll do my best to explain.
So your ‘Google ranking’ (how high up in the Google search you are) is dictated by how much of an authority Google perceives your website to be.
Ways to improve that ‘authority’ status include:
– Having people land on your website often
– Posting relevant, accurate content about your area of expertise, regularly
So, how do we get people to land on your site often?
– Ask your extended network to visit your website.
– Post to social media with links to your website, with the goal to get people in your extended network to visit your site.
– Optimise the content on your website (incl. copy, page meta data, images and image titles) to help your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) (We do our best to set this up for you from the start by the way. Each page has a meta title, all images are names with your business name and then the relevant page they appear on, and we make sure your content is relevant to your industry and slightly repetitive.)
– Post to your blog about topics relevant to your industry.
– Set up email marketing through a company like Mailchimp, to send out content to your audience for ‘free’ with the goal being to keep them engaged, and get them to visit your website for whatever reason you chose.
– Create a Google Business account and enter all relevant profile info and photos about your business, including physical location(s) which will need to be verified.
– Ask clients to review your business via your Google Business page. Supply them with the link so it’s easier for them. The more 5 star reviews the better.
– Ask industry leaders / partners etc who are already deemed to be authorities in the industry (government / corporations etc.) to create links from their website to yours. These are called ‘backlinks’. (Not a lot of companies, or government agencies will link to a website unless you have great content and/or are well-known in the industry. Having amazing content really is key.)
– Submit articles to news sites / journalists who publish online, and make sure they credit you with a link.
– Make sure your business is listed on as many directories as you can access. Citations that mention your business’s name, website, address, phone, improve the perceived authority of your website.
They are the ‘free’ things you can do.
Things you can pay for include..
– A Digital Marketing organisation website SEO review, with the likely recommendation being technical SEO to be done on your behalf. (At least $1500 per month.)
– Google Pay-Per-Click Adwords (Which are the ‘top’ search results that pop up when you’re Googling anything. You will notice the words ‘Ad’ next to the search result. If you click through one of those, the respective company will be paying for the privilege that they appeared in your search.) Adwords are best organised through a Digital Marketing company as it’s best to do some research about what to include as your keywords / themes etc. At least $2000 per month.)
– Display network marketing campaigns to promote an offer or service, which link through to a designated sales webpage (which would need to be set up with a series of targeted content and call to action prompts)
– Social Content Management (With the goal being to increase engagement on social platforms, translating to website traffic.)
No wonder Google (as a company) is worth so much coin hey?
They pretty much run a monopoly on how well your digital real estate is viewed.
